Q: For those who don’t know you, can you please introduce yourself and describe your sound?

I’m Sean Garrett from The Garrett Band. I would say our sound has probably a harder edge progressive kind of rock thing going on. I love melody, which is very important so there’s a lot of melody, a lot of progressive edges happening and you’ll always enjoy yourself. We’ve got kind of groove oriented thing going on as well, so I’m looking forward to getting out there and getting them going.

Q: What’s one of the biggest successes you’ve had as a musician?

Just being a musician! You know just being able to get your stuff out there and hope for the best. You want people you know come and check out what you’re doing cause it’s important to you.

Q: What’s your favourite venue to play?

This band started at the Columbia Theater so that’s where we got our thing going on. Then we had a lotta good gigs at the Rickshaw which was always a lot of fun. We always look forward to going to the Roxy as well, which we will be back at on September 18.

Q: What do you think was the best Medium for music to be on? (Vinyl, Tape, CD, Digital)?

Definitely vinyl. Growing up listening to the Partridge Family and eventually getting heavily into Pink Floyd, I always loved the melodies and the sound that the vinyl had, that’s what I was used to. Not that I don’t like what’s happening now, but you know vinyl is still worthwhile to check out again.

Q: Who is your favourite local band to see perform around town?

We just did a gig with Wounded Thief and those guys are definitely worth checking out. A lot energy some and some cool stuff going on. Also The Lily Dippers band. Definitely worth checking out. They got a cool vibe going on and they know what’s going on?

Q: What’s coming up next for your music?

Putting out a new album which is pretty cool. Getting to play some of those songs live now before it even comes out is even cooler. Being able to test market them and see what’s going on which is a lot of fun.
