Artist Spotlight - Like Whatever

 Support the Scene is back with a fresh faced blog, and as always, we're ready to introduce you to some of the amazing local talent we have here, and to reacquaint you with some of your favourites. 

    We have such an incredible music scene here in the GVA, and there are so many amazing artists just waiting for you to check them out. So, after an intensely hot and busy summer, some of our talented local artists found time to answer a few of our questions.

        Q: For those who don’t know you, can you please introduce yourself and describe your sound?

We are Like Whatever a fun and energetic pop/punk/rock band.

        Q: What’s one of the biggest successes you’ve had as a musician?

Ryley and Kaylars last group Raincity achievers a lot of highlights for them. They where recognized winning multiple battle of the bands at places like the Railway, Roxy, and the Hard Rock Casino. They also got to tour frequently including across Canada and in the United States.

        Q: What’s your favourite venue to play?

We have always had a good time performing at Guilt and Co. and we've thrown quite of few great nights at the Wise Hall.

        Q: What do you think was the best Medium for music to be on? (Vinyl, Tape, CD, Digital)?

Probably YouTube music now . We still see some success selling CDs but also enjoy vinyl.

        Q: Who is your favourite local band to see perform around town?

There's a lot of great bands in Vancouver and it's pretty hard to pick favorites however we have had a great time playing and touring with Chase The Bear.

        Q: What’s coming up next for your music?



We just releases our first music video and song (check it out here) and we have our first show as Like Whatever Sept 14th at the Cobalt.

New Music - Prepare For Hypothermia!

  Freeze The Fall has burst onto the scene in a whirlwind of riffs and hypnotic melodies. Despite their relative youthfulness, they caught the ever-watching eye of 604 Records . Together they worked hard to polish this already bright diamond into a new single titled " Hypothermia ". The track as well as accompanying music video will be released on Feb 12th . We had a chat with the band about the past, present, and future of Freeze The Fall.

Show Review - Put THAT In The Bible!

Support the Scene had the opportunity to send one of our incredibly talented photographers to see Bible Girl, Doom Loops, and Kites on Mars on November 8th, at Lana Lou's. Here's what Jade Weekes had to say about the incredible performance that these bands put on.  ♪ ♫ ♪ Bible Girl had their first show at Lana Lou's last night. Their sound was a great mix of indie rock with a touch of shoegaze. Since it was their first show, it was expected to have a couple of flubs but they carried on like the seasoned musicians they are. Many dynamic changes made their set full of unexpected energy bursts, amidst their more low-key overall sound. Keep an eye out for their upcoming single!  ♪ ♫ ♪   Doom Loops brought some tasty piano licks, soaring synths, and catchy vocals; and that was only from ONE of their members!
