Chûnk is an alternative rock band from New Westminster, BC. |

Q: For those who don’t know you, can you please introduce yourself and describe your sound?
We are "Chûnk" based out of New Westminster. I am Cliff Thiessen, Guitar player/singer and we have Jamie Little doing Bass/vocals along with our Drummer, Joel Loewen. Formed some years ago we built our sound slowly with no pressure to play shows. We found common ground with Queens of the Stone Age which became our first influence. We like to mix in some doom, get a little heavy, but keep the vocals pleasant.
Q: What’s one of the biggest successes you’ve had as a musician?
Personally for me it was touring Europe with We Hunt Buffalo. A dream come true. With Chûnk I feel very proud of what we've accomplished musically, with the best yet to come. Every show we play is invigorating. And when people come up and say they liked it, that's success right there.
Q: What’s your favourite venue to play?
The Rickshaw. It's that beautiful mix of pro and personal. The sound is always amazing there and the crowds are always fantastic.
Q: What do you think was the best Medium for music to be on? (Vinyl, Tape, CD, Digital)?
Vinyl is pretty amazing. There is a reason it's lasted through the years and has even had a rise as of late. The art is big and in your face. You're forced to look at the pictures or read the lyrics as you set it up or turn over to side B. It gets people involved beyond the music.
Q: Who is your favourite local band to see perform around town?
I'd probably say Dead Quiet. This is a hard question because there are so many great bands around here, but they have that amazing stage antics and presence combined with awesome, heavy music.
Q: What’s coming up next for your music?
We're going to be getting back in the studio soon for some songs. How many we'll record is uncertain at this point but we've got some new tracks we'd love to share with the world so we're gonna make it happen. Check out our social media to see when we're going to play live next @thechunkband. You can also check us out on Spotify!
