Q: For those who don’t know you, can you please introduce yourself and describe your sound? We are CULTOVAR and we are a faceless auditory storm. Our music is walls of cascading infinity. The sound of water filling your lungs. The last exhalation from a dying star. Up and down. Light and dark.
Q: What’s one of the biggest successes you’ve had as a musician?
Getting four people who work full time and live in three different cities to jam and play live on a regular basis is a huge achievement.
Q: What’s your favourite venue to play?
The Astoria on Hastings is venue we have all played many times with many otherprojects. We can’t say the shows are always well attended, or that the pay is even good but we always have a great time.
Q: What do you think was the best Medium for music to be on? (Vinyl, Tape, CD, Digital)?
Vinyl and all physical media are our preferred formats. We want our music to be forgotten, found when we are long gone, and then forgotten again.
Q: Who is your favourite local band to see perform around town?

One time we saw Elevator Compactor eat a cheeseburger and play harsh noise walls inan unventilated room that was easily 40° C.
Q: What’s coming up next for your music?
We have a new EP coming out in late 2024. It is a small piece of our hearts. It was created with equal parts anxiety and elation. 1 song. 25 minutes.
