Artist Spotlight - Mean Bikini

As the weather turns colder and the leaves fall with the downpour of raindrops, we invite you to hunker down with a hot cup of steamy goodness, and take a moment to check out our next spotlighted artist:

        Q: For those who don’t know you, can you please introduce yourself and describe your sound?

Hello everyone, this is Milli from Mean Bikini. We play fast furious punk for queer nerds and anyone else who likes loud rowdy tunes with a bit of extra spice.

        Q: What’s one of the biggest successes you’ve had as a musician?

I'd say as a band, one of our biggest successes is the local scene in our hometown of Cumberland BC that was born when this band came to be. We started out during the pandemic so once shows started happening, so many folks came out of the woodwork, most of which being young queer kids. They show up to every hometown show we play and go harder than anyone else. It's been a pleasure to feel like we had a hand in creating a space for people to show up as they are and feel safe to express themselves.

        Q: What’s your favourite venue to play?

That's a tough one, but the Red gate in Vancouver will always be near and dear to us. Also shout out to Jimmy jazz in Guelph Ontario!

        Q: What do you think was the best Medium for music to be on? (Vinyl, Tape, CD, Digital)?

Vinyl will always be a special one, but for accessibility sake having music available digitally is a real treat. It's amazing that we can discover bands so easily now and also connect with other like minded musicians to create a broad sense of community through our music.

        Q: Who is your favourite local band to see perform around town?

That's a tough one as our collective music scene on the West Coast is absolutely brimming with talent.

        Q: What’s coming up next for your music?



After doing 5 tours, 2 fests and 33 shows in total this year, we are buckling in to write and record our new full length. We are stoked to be refining our writing and so far the songs we feel are our best work to date. Stoked to share em with y'all!
