Q: For those who don’t know you, can you please introduce yourself and describe your sound?

Hey everyone!

My names Ricardo. I’m what you call a melancholy bedroom pop guy. I float somewhere between conventional pop music and integrate my love of not only film score, but sometimes sound design and choral too. My music in terms of mood and lyrical energy tends to be very raw and honest for a majority of my work. I really like integrating truth and honesty in every facet of my work.

Q: What’s one of the biggest successes you’ve had as a musician?

Honestly, right now I feel like I’m where I’m supposed to be. I’ve been working full time in music for the last two years. I’ve been a music director at several churches, conducted kids and church choirs, toured BC with multiple bands in multiple capacities, and have been given lots of opportunities to really shine. So I guess for me really the fact that I can pay my bills with music is my biggest success; which includes all the neat projects I’ve worked on, on stage or in studio. I’m really grateful to be alive.

Q: What’s your favourite venue to play?

The Commodore! I’ve been drumming and doing background vocals for Leo D.E Johnsons solo project for 3 years and years ago we got the opportunity to open for Frazey Ford at the Commodore. So next to that Guilt and Co or Shipyards Night Market!

Q: What do you think was the best Medium for music to be on? (Vinyl, Tape, CD, Digital)?

Without a doubt - Vinyl! Something about the fidelity and intimacy of putting on an old record With all the scratches in it on some good monitors can’t be beat.

Q: Who is your favourite local band to see perform around town?

I quite enjoy catching a DIA show whenever I can. They’re this talented all girl group full of friends of mine and my partner. I really enjoy their vocal arrangements and how they blend together.

Q: What’s coming up next for your music?

I’m actually in the midst of dropping my next single “Nursery” and some other singles for the fall before I start releasing my acoustic album project Healing :) stay tuned for more info!
