Here's what they had to say...

Q: For those who don’t know you, can you please introduce yourself and describe your sound?

We are Deserted! A 4-piece metalcore and alt metal band from New Westminster! We are heavily influenced by and similar to bands like Bring Me The Horizon, Spiritbox, Architects, Bullet For my Valentine and Asking Alexandria. We do a blend of heavy low tuned guitars with hooky choruses and synth pop elements to try create our own unique modern Metalcore sound.

Q: What’s one of the biggest successes you’ve had as a musician?

We’ve had the pleasure of working with a producer who picked us up at a show we played back in 2023. He has allowed us to build a catalogue of solid tunes that align sonically with the kind of music we listen to and want to be associated with. We’re really excited to share those with the world!

Q: What’s your favourite venue to play?

This is a loaded question for us as there are many great venues we’ve been lucky enough to play and so many that various members of the band have played in other projects as well. For us I think we’d have to say Bully’s in New. As a newer band Bully’s is the perfect venue to perform at from the size of the room to the location, and most importantly, the people running the space. Rob is great and it’s always a pleasure to play at the venue. Not to mention it’s very close to home!

Some others around Vancouver that we love are the Fox, The Biltmore, Portside, and the Roxy!

Q: What do you think was the best Medium for music to be on? (Vinyl, Tape, CD, Digital)?

Personally, I’d have to say CD. I was and still am a big collector of CDs. I find they are the most accurate representation of how artists intended their music to sound. Add that to the idea that you get to listen to a CD in the order that the artist intended and get to experience the further story behind the record or EP.

Q: Who is your favourite local band to see perform around town?

For us it has to be The Evan Williams Project! They are a group of very talented and very impressive musicians who put on an insanely captivating and tight performance each and every time they go on stage.

We also love Zack Brannon, Arrow In The Quiver, Twenty Million People, Seeing Grey, and to venture farther out in BC, Floodgate are amazing!

For bigger local acts, Carcosa and daysormay are up there as some of our favs. The scene is really booming and we think that there are so many good bands making the rounds it’s hard to name them all here. But we’re so excited to check out and play alongside even more acts!

Q: What’s coming up next for your music?

We’re really excited for 2025. We just released our debut single animals and are loving the reception so far! We have an EP currently in the works and two additional single ready to release in early 2025 that will be coming out in the first few months of the new year. We’re working on putting together a concert with some of our favourite metal bands around Vancouver and the lower mainland really soon and are penciled in to play an unannounced festival in the spring (you didn’t hear that from us 🤫). Finally, we will be branching out to play shows in Kelowna, kamloops, penticton and Vancouver island with tentative plans to travel down the west coast into Portland and Seattle. Then our EP will be out for listening in April/May time!
