In the Dark Park
Here's what they had to say...

Q: For those who don’t know you, can you please introduce yourself and describe your sound?
Q: What’s one of the biggest successes you’ve had as a musician?
Honestly, getting a 13 track album done while all of us work or study full time is pretty fulfilling. Our debut album Understory was released on December 5, 2024 on most digital platforms and it’s great to be able to connect people to the music in so many different ways.
Q: What’s your favourite venue to play?
Though we have lost a few venues over the years, Vancouver has so many awesome local venues that it would be difficult to decide. They all have their charm. I think if we had to choose one though, it would be Bully’s in New Westminster - our hometown - and Rob and Victoria work hard to promote local bands and other local artists. Shout out to venues like The Blarney Stone, The Roxy, Portside, and Green Auto - just to name a few that are really committed to showcasing local music.
Q: What do you think was the best Medium for music to be on? (Vinyl, Tape, CD, Digital)?
Digital for sure because it allows your music to reach a greater audience and it is conveniently available wherever you want to listen. The ability to make and share playlists allows you to share new music with friends and family. Artist friendly platforms like Bandcamp, are a great way to better support musicians in a digital environment where you own your purchases.
We do collect records as well - love the greater focus on artwork, the ritual involved in a full album listen, and the unique sound. CDs too - they both offer actual ownership of the music and purchases provide greater support for the artists.
Q: Who is your favourite local band to see perform around town?
Wow! How would you choose? This is such an exciting time for music in Vancouver and there is so much talent in all genres. We are definitely fans of Grade School, Summer’s Brother, The Haptics, Emerald Osagie, Little Destroyer, Mandi Leigh, too many jazz performers to mention and more. A shout out to Jordana Delgado who is not only a very talented composer and storyteller but she also does a lot of work with Unsigned BC to support the local music scene.
Q: What’s coming up next for your music?
We are already writing songs for our next album and we are playing more live shows, incorporating some of those new songs into the set list. We usually end with a song called Same Old Lies, which will be on our next album. We will be starting to record our next album at some point in 2025.
Our next show is February 13 at the Blarney Stone opening for The Dissent and then on March 12 we are at the Roxy.
