Q: For those who don’t know you, can you please introduce yourself and describe your sound?
If you're listening to MATH CLUB song you best believe it's either about the most devastating break-up of your life or the impending doom of climate change and nothing else in-between! We've been making our name in the local Vancouver indie-rock scene through open-mics around town and over the last year have started playing bigger shows with a full band. MATH CLUB was founded by two lifelong besties who roped their most talented friends into being in a band with them and we're loving every second of it!
Q: What’s one of the biggest successes you’ve had as a musician?
Our biggest success to date was getting to play on stage at the Cobalt infront of all our friends and family last month. It's been our best set so far and there was such an indescribable energy in the air.Q: What’s your favourite venue to play?
We will always have a soft-spot for the open-mic at Trees Coffee. It's a hub for all the local burgeoning talent in Vancouver and we've made so many friends from our time performing there. It's been great seeing everyone grow musically over time within the community.Q: What do you think was the best Medium for music to be on? (Vinyl, Tape, CD, Digital)?
We want to be cool and say vinyl is the best way to experience music, but we are a band of realists and in our hearts we know the convenience of digital is unmatched. I can't carry around my record player while I'm at the gym after all.
Q: Who is your favourite local band to see perform around town?
Vancouver is full of talented artists who we love checking out, we're big fans of Ask The Wind and Britney Cheng in particular.Q: What’s coming up next for your music?
In 2025 we have a few singles coming out, but if you want to hear them in advance you can come see us around town playing at venues like The Roxy or The Painted Ship. Check out our instagram to see what we're up to next!
