Vancouvers Next Drag Superstar - Queen Kong

 

The hunt is on for Vancouver's Next Drag Superstar! We managed to chat with a few of this week's revealed contestants. Come out tomorrow to Celebrities Nightclub, as well as for the next few weeks, to see who makes it to the finals.

        1. How would you describe your drag to someone who’s never seen you before?

Sexy, silly and powerful

        2. What’s your go-to song to perform if you were trapped on a desert island and had to lip sync for your life to escape?

Well with the island as a backdrop I’d say Tyla - Water would be perfect 

        3. Which guest judge are you most looking forward to performing in front of?
I’ve performed in front of most judges on the panel before but excited about Tommy. Hope I get this opportunity as a formal presentation to part of the Vancouver scene 

        4. What do you think separates you from other Drag performers in Vancouver?
I do believe my musicality and ability as a dancer does give me an edge but I know that asides from being very good at selling sexy people don’t expect me to blend stupid in there quite well 

        5. What’s the message you want to send to our readers to get them to come cheer you on?
Hi everyone, this is Queen Kong! And though many of you may not know me or have seen my performances hope you can all come and enjoy my show as well as the other amazing performers, the Vancouver scene has been so warm and welcoming so I hope to capture your hearts and tips very soon

New Music - Prepare For Hypothermia!

  Freeze The Fall has burst onto the scene in a whirlwind of riffs and hypnotic melodies. Despite their relative youthfulness, they caught the ever-watching eye of 604 Records . Together they worked hard to polish this already bright diamond into a new single titled " Hypothermia ". The track as well as accompanying music video will be released on Feb 12th . Show Review - Put THAT In The Bible!

Support the Scene had the opportunity to send one of our incredibly talented photographers to see Bible Girl, Doom Loops, and Kites on Mars on November 8th, at Lana Lou's. Here's what Jade Weekes had to say about the incredible performance that these bands put on.  ♪ ♫ ♪ Bible Girl had their first show at Lana Lou's last night. Their sound was a great mix of indie rock with a touch of shoegaze. Since it was their first show, it was expected to have a couple of flubs but they carried on like the seasoned musicians they are. Many dynamic changes made their set full of unexpected energy bursts, amidst their more low-key overall sound. Keep an eye out for their upcoming single!  ♪ ♫ ♪   Doom Loops brought some tasty piano licks, soaring synths, and catchy vocals; and that was only from ONE of their members!
