Q: For those who don’t know you, can you please introduce yourself and describe your sound?
We are Orchid Orchestra, a 4-piece indie pop band from here in Vancouver. We are known for infusing musical theatre, hip-hop, and choral music into our joyful, vulnerable music. When playing live, we often integrate theatrical elements such as skits or a live choir, and seem to create quite an emotional atmosphere for the audiences. The four of us met at Chorus Studio, a local choir studio, and have beautifully unique backgrounds, and we aim to create the most wholesome, loving environment to create and share our music.
Q: What’s one of the biggest successes you’ve had as a musician?
Oo, we've had a lot of very sweet things happen to us since we formed, but one of our favourites was being featured in the Vancouver Sun. It was a massive spread, and such a beautiful writeup. We feel so grateful to have been featured in that way.Q: What’s your favourite venue to play?
The Biltmore!Q: What do you think was the best Medium for music to be on? (Vinyl, Tape, CD, Digital)?
I mean, if I had the money I'd buy some lovely speakers, a record player, and a bunch of vinyls, but being a graduate student as well means I have to keep things cheap, so I'm happy with digital.
Q: Who is your favourite local band to see perform around town?
Uncle Strut!Q: What’s coming up next for your music?
