Artist Spotlight - Virgulins

 Hey Music Fans! Are you ready to be introduced to some of the amazing local talent we have here, and to be reacquainted with some of your favourites? We have such an incredible music scene here in the GVA, and there are so many amazing artists just waiting for you to check them out.

The darkest of the days of winter are finally coming to a close, and with it come the eventual sprouts and blooms of spring, and the warmer days that accompany them. We'll begin to see the start of the festival and event season, and are excited to see what this year holds for our next spotlighted artist.

        Q: For those who don’t know you, can you please introduce yourself and describe your sound?

With roots in Brazilian and South American music, we are a pop rock band based in Vancouver that’s been active since 2018. We provide a fun experience and great versions of international and Brazilians classic songs to everybody who have the chance to watch us perform live.

        Q: What’s one of the biggest successes you’ve had as a musician?

Each one of us had different experiences in the past if our previous music projects, but being able to meet each other and form this band was a big achievement. We're usually very in-synch amd have a good chemistry.

        Q: What’s your favourite venue to play?

We haven't played in a lot of venues in Vancouver yet but we recently had a fantastic experience on our first time playing at Blarney Stone. The venue was full and there was line outside to see the band, which was really surprising.

        Q: What do you think was the best Medium for music to be on? (Vinyl, Tape, CD, Digital)?

We're all vinyl fans!!!

        Q: Who is your favourite local band to see perform around town?

Cabral's Fault.

        Q: What’s coming up next for your music?



We have a few gigs booked for the next few months, which we'll start advertising very soon. For now, we're looking forward to our next show at Blarney Stone on February 27th.

New Music - Prepare For Hypothermia!

  Freeze The Fall has burst onto the scene in a whirlwind of riffs and hypnotic melodies. Despite their relative youthfulness, they caught the ever-watching eye of 604 Records . Together they worked hard to polish this already bright diamond into a new single titled " Hypothermia ". The track as well as accompanying music video will be released on Feb 12th . We had a chat with the band about the past, present, and future of Freeze The Fall.

Show Review - Put THAT In The Bible!

Support the Scene had the opportunity to send one of our incredibly talented photographers to see Bible Girl, Doom Loops, and Kites on Mars on November 8th, at Lana Lou's. Here's what Jade Weekes had to say about the incredible performance that these bands put on.  ♪ ♫ ♪ Bible Girl had their first show at Lana Lou's last night. Their sound was a great mix of indie rock with a touch of shoegaze. Since it was their first show, it was expected to have a couple of flubs but they carried on like the seasoned musicians they are. Many dynamic changes made their set full of unexpected energy bursts, amidst their more low-key overall sound. Keep an eye out for their upcoming single!  ♪ ♫ ♪   Doom Loops brought some tasty piano licks, soaring synths, and catchy vocals; and that was only from ONE of their members!
