New Music - Prepare For Hypothermia!
Freeze The Fall has burst onto the scene in a whirlwind of riffs and hypnotic melodies. Despite their relative youthfulness, they caught the ever-watching eye of 604 Records. Together they worked hard to polish this already bright diamond into a new single titled "Hypothermia". The track as well as accompanying music video will be released on Feb 12th. We had a chat with the band about the past, present, and future of Freeze The Fall.

Q: For those who haven’t heard Freeze The Fall yet? How would YOU describe your music?
We would definitely describe our music as an evolving journey! We really write songs about the world that we see and experience around us. We like to take on big thoughts and issues, and then craft a metaphorical story around that idea. The songs themselves are typically rooted in these big, heavy drum fills, hard hitting bass lines, and melodic vocals over top of that. We usually land somewhere between heavy rock and melodic metal!
Q: From playing local shows to bigger festivals like Khatsahlano, which has been your favorite venue to play?
Khatsalano was definitely a highlight for us this past summer as it was really our first big show outside of our community. It is always fun to meet new audiences and see how they respond to our music. We also have a favourite homebase venue in Kelowna called the Broken Hearts Club. It's a little speakeasy below a winery. It feels like home to us us. We love playing that stage.
Q: Who’s the coolest person you’ve met so far on your musical journey? And how’d you meet them?
That's a fun question! We had a chance to meet Lonnie Eagleton from Black Veil Brides last summer kind of by accident, that was very cool. We would also definitely say that meeting some of the online reactor community and big fans from around the world is an extremely moving experience. To know that people would get on a plane to come and find one of our shows is still a really surreal feeling.
Q: If you could share the stage with any band, which band would it be?
Truth be told we would probably all choose different bands to collaborate with! We all have similar, but also varied taste in music. We all think that it would be very cool to do a collaboration with The Nova Twins and we would die to find ourselves on the same stage as Spiritbox one day!
Q: So Hypothermia, your next single, is about online anonymity. Have you experienced online bullying? Can you tell the readers any tips for getting past unrealistic expectations set on social media?
The song really isn't about one person's particular experience it's more about how anonymity leads to this feeling that we can say or do what we want behind the invisibility of a screen with zero consequences. It can lead to this really cruel seemingly unbreakable cycle. We have actually found our online fan base to be very positive and supportive. But we are also aware that that can shift and change. For us the solution is just to be authentic and not to put too much weight on what others have to say in the online setting. You really have to stay true to yourself.
