Vancouver's Next Drag Superstar - Sis Gender

The hunt is on for Vancouver's Next Drag Superstar! We managed to chat with a few of this week's revealed contestants. Come out Feb 6th to Celebrities Nightclub, as well as for the next few weeks, to see who makes it to the finals.

Introducing:

Sis Gender

        1. How would you describe your drag to someone who’s never seen you before?

Sis, Gender’s Drag is all about breaking boundaries and celebrating the fluidity of gender. It’s unexpected, bold, and unapologetically individual. My performances are a mix of raw energy, a touch of humour, and a lot of heart—meant to inspire everyone to feel confident in living life by their own rules, no matter what the world expects of them.

         2. What’s your go-to song to perform if you were trapped on a desert island and had to lip sync for your life to escape?

If I had to choose, I’d go with “Freedom! ’90” by George Michael. It’s a song that celebrates liberation and being unapologetically yourself—plus, it has some fierce choreography potential!

        3. Which guest judge are you most looking forward to performing in front of?
I’m super excited to perform in front of Tiffany—her stage presence and killer dance moves are something I admire, and we share a lot of the same music influences! I’m also excited to perform in front of Xana, who is a major inspiration to me as an example of being a true Boss in this art form. But, the most exciting part will be performing for mama Kendall Gender. (Yes, I unofficially claim her as my drag mom… even though she doesn’t know I exist… YET! 😛)

        4. What do you think separates you from other Drag performers in Vancouver?
What separates me is the gender-fluid perspective I bring, along with the fact that my performances are a full-on production. I’m a prop queen, and you can always expect a gag! Vancouver’s drag scene is incredibly diverse, and I love challenging the idea that drag has to fit into one particular mold. My performances blur the lines between traditional drag and self-expression, encouraging everyone to step outside of labels and be true to who they are, free from constraints.

        5. What’s the message you want to send to our readers to get them to come cheer you on?
Come cheer me on if you’re ready to see a performance celebrating individuality, freedom, and the power of breaking all the rules. (AND I MEAN IT lol) I want everyone to leave feeling inspired and empowered to live their truth, whatever that looks like for them. Plus, it’s going to be a fun, unforgettable ride!
