Show Review: Said The Whale

Said The Whale played a hometown show, and it was as intimate as a show could get. Playing at the Hollywood Theatre instead of a venue like the Commodore, the Rickshaw, or Orpheum, it felt like they were playing in their backyard. The whole night had a certain air of old friends coming together to just hang out and listen to some music.

Instead of having an opening band, they decided to have different band members perform solo. Some songs, they would bring up other band members as guests, but it was more about their own repertoire of songs and the stories behind them.

Flowing seamlessly into a full band setup during one of the final solo songs was a fantastic surprise and a great way to bring up the energy of the night. They mentioned that the set list for the night was decided on their website, letting their fans pick their entire setlist for the night! It was overall a very fun night full of stories and old memories. If you were an older Said The Whale fan, it was the perfect night or hits and b-sides. If you were a new Said The Whale fan, it was a great introduction to an amazing group of musicians and their personality filled every song they performed!
